How Much Does a Wet/Dry Vac Cost?

how much does a wet/dry vac costIn the market for a wet/dry vac but don’t know how much to invest? You’re not alone. Whether you’re a new homeowner getting the essentials, you’re looking to add the best products to your tool box or in need of a vac that can handle the messiest jobs, having a wet/dry vac at your disposal can save you money and time in the long run.

While there are many factors that go into determining the final cost of a wet/dry vac, a vac suitable for everyday messes in the home, workshop or garage, you can expect to pay somewhere between $40 – $120. When you start looking at professional grade options, that price range will jump up to $80 – $200. Wet dry/vac prices can vary due to a few different factors, including:

  1. Peak horse power (HP) – This number can range from 1.5 to 6.5 depending on the brand but it’s used to compare the output of the motor. This doesn’t always mean that the higher the number, the more suction power it has though, so be cautious of brands that raise the price based on Peak HP alone.
  2. Gallon Limit – Wet/dry vacs can vastly range in gallon size, from small, handheld options that are as small as 1.0 gallons to heavy-duty vacs made for professional worksites that can hold up to 16-20 gallons. It’s important to note that this denotes the tank volume, not the actual capacity of liquid the vac can hold.
  3. Accessories – Not all wet/dry vacs come standard with a full suite of accessories, like a caddy. Most options should, at minimum, include an extension wand, nozzle, filter and hose but once additional accessories are added to the product, the price can go up. For example, the Vacmaster 6-gallon wet/dry vac is priced around $55, while our BEAST Series™ Professional 16-gallon wet/dry vac is priced a bit higher at around $120.

Common accessories you can expect to purchase separately include:

  • Foam wet filter
  • Accessory caddy
  • Car nozzle
  • Adapter
  • Air/Noise diffuser
  • Cartridge filter

In addition to the cost of your wet/dry vac, consider expenses you’ll incur with upkeep. You can expect to pay anywhere from $15 - $30 for new filters, $5 - $10 for a new foam wet filter and $15 - $25 for a 3-pk. of replacement dust filter bags.
